Hello and welcome to my Substack!

My name is Birgitte, and I am a Danish photographer and translator living and working in Florence, Italy.

I was born and grew up in Copenhagen, but I have lived in Italy for more than twenty years. For many years I lived in Rome, but since 2011 I have been based in Florence, where I live with my daughter and our two cats.

I am passionate about film photography, in love with Paris, crazy about books and notebooks, and I love to read and write. I am a minimalist, and I love cats!

I have worked as a photographer for more than ten years photographing mainly kids and families, but over the years I have also collaborated with brands and magazines.

In 2024 I took a one-year long break from photography professionally, and right now I mainly work as a translator, but I am slowly returning to kids and family photography again, and for the future I hope to be able to combine the two jobs, while also dedicating some time to my personal photography. And to Substack - of course.

In this space you will first of all find lots of (mainly film) photography, but also some writing.

I like to share my thoughts on all things related to photography, but I also write about other topics such as travel, things that inspire me, and… well, whatever pops into my mind.
