To say that I am excited about starting my own Substack is an understatement.
As someone who used to blog (when blogging was a thing), and who never fully understood why and how Instagram and other fast platforms ended up replacing the personal and carefully curated blogs (not to mention the blog community), I can only say, that Substack is everything I have been missing and looking for, and I can't wait to start reading, writing and sharing.
My name is Birgitte, and I am a Danish photographer and translator from Copenhagen living in Florence, Italy.
As it says in my profile, I am passionate about film photography, in love with Paris, crazy about books and notebooks, and I love to read and write.
It has already taken me too long to create this space, and it could easily have taken me even longer, because of course I started out wanting the perfect name (which I didn't find), the perfect first post (which you are reading right now...) etc etc. In the end I decided that it would be better to not overthink things and just go for it.
To end this first post I know I should write a few words about what you can expect to find in here, but to be honest I would like this to be a sort of free space, which can take any direction. All I can say for sure is that I will be sharing my photography (mainly film, but also digital), and I will be writing about photography - and many other things.
I hope you will follow along, subscribe etc.
Welcome!
Congratulations on your first letter, Birgitte! =) I hope you enjoy the community here. (And, you can always change your name later!)
Hi Birgitte! Isn't Substack refreshing?! I've been here a while but with the new crop of photographers showing up it's been really exciting to have inspiration at my fingertips again instead of doom scrolling. I look forward to seeing where you go with your page. I was brave too and just went for it with my first posts :) All the best!
